The CHUV’s shelter is now open to the public. However, our staffing is reduced and our activities are slow; delays in telephone and email responses as well as appointment availability are to be expected.

Please note that all our services are by appointment only.

For the Community Medicine and Sterilization programs, response times will be longer than usual.

The CHUV’s Animal Shelter was founded in 1991 by a handful of students wanting to provide care to stray or abandoned cats as well as reduce the number of needless euthanasias. Since its creation, the shelter has overseen the adoption of over 5,100 cats and 1,500 dogs as well as sterilization of over 9,500 cats and 1,200 dogs through its targeted sterilization program.
