The team works in cooperation with specialists from the many other areas such as <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/equine-hospital\/equine-hospital-services\/equine-surgery-service\/\">surgery<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/equine-hospital\/equine-hospital-services\/equine-internal-medicine-service\/\">internal medicine<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/small-animal-hospital\/small-animal-hospital-services\/medical-imaging\/\">medical imaging<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/small-animal-hospital\/small-animal-hospital-services\/the-anesthesiology-service\/\">anesthesiology<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/small-animal-hospital\/small-animal-hospital-services\/the-neurology-service\/\">neurology<\/a> to offer a multidisciplinary approach. Many research projects done by our teams will allow important developments in terms of equine athletic performance in the years to come.<\/p>\n<p>The types of problems treated include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/equine-hospital\/equine-hospital-services\/the-lameness-service\/\">Lameness<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Orthopedic and musculoskeletal problems<\/li>\n<li>Decreased performances in the equine athlete (respiratory, cardiovascular, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From the dressage ring to the race track, from the performance arena to the show jumping course, whatever your goal; our team will be there to help you achieve it![\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_tta_tour active_section=&#8221;99&#8243;][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1479411920541-9ab77d12-0244&#8243;][vc_column_text]Since certain problems are only detectable during exercise, the CHUV is equipped with a high speed treadmill able to achieve a speed of 45 km\/hour with an incline of up to 5 degrees. The CHUV also has an interior arena and a <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/equine-hospital\/equine-hospital-services\/equine-internal-medicine-service\/equine-dynamic-respiratory-endoscope\/\">dynamic endoscope<\/a> allowing the evaluation of the horse\u2019s condition while ridden or lunged or even harnessed. A cardiac ultrasound can also be done while resting or during exercise if needed.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/small-animal-hospital\/small-animal-hospital-services\/medical-imaging\/\">Advanced medical imaging<\/a> such as ultrasound, endoscopy, numerical x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging, bone scintigraphy and computed tomography (CT-Scan) allow our team to obtain rapid and precise diagnoses.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;TYPES OF TREATMENTS OFFERED&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1479411920569-6c4d9922-56b2&#8243;][vc_column_text]Diverse surgical procedures for example laser surgery for respiratory obstructions can be offered and your horse can be referred to the <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/equine-hospital\/equine-hospital-services\/equine-surgery-service\/\">surgery Service<\/a> if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>A new type of treatment through <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/equine-hospital\/equine-hospital-services\/equine-internal-medicine-service\/biotherapy\/\">regenerative medicine<\/a> (biotherapy) has also been set up at the Equine hospital in the past few years. This type of treatment can be used in certain cases of tendinitis, osteoarthritis, joint disease or following certain types of trauma.
