Interns and undergraduate veterinary students also assist in equine patient care.<\/p>\n<p>The surgery service is available 24 hours per day and 365 days a year for all types of surgical emergencies, such as colic and trauma. Elective surgeries are scheduled Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 17:00.<\/p>\n<p>We offer a wide range of state of the art surgical procedures. We closely collaborate with a variety of other specialist services to provide you with the very best care including <a title=\"Equine\u00a0Internal Medicine Service\" href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/equine-hospital\/equine-hospital-services\/equine-internal-medicine-service\/\">internal medicine<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/small-animal-hospital\/small-animal-hospital-services\/medical-imaging\/\">medical imaging<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/equine-hospital\/equine-hospital-services\/the-sport-medicine-service\/\">sports medicine<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/small-animal-hospital\/small-animal-hospital-services\/the-anesthesiology-service\/\">anesthesia<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/small-animal-hospital\/small-animal-hospital-services\/the-ophthalmology-service\/\">ophthalmology<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/equine-hospital\/equine-hospital-services\/the-equine-theriogenology-service\/\">theriogenology<\/a> services.<\/p>\n<p>Ultramodern equipment allows the team to conduct examinations with ultrasound, digital radiography, endoscopy, 1.5 tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), CT scan or bone scintigraphy prior to surgery when necessary.<\/p>\n<p>When possible, less invasive surgical techniques, such as standing <a href=\"http:\/\/chuv.umontreal.ca\/english\/the-equine-surgery-service-acquires-a-stifle-standing-arthroscopy-diagnostic-unit\/\">arthroscopy<\/a>, laparoscopy or sinus surgery for example are chosen to minimize risks for the patient as well as recovery time.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the situation, our mutlidisciplinary specialist team will take the time to explain all available options for therapy and enable you to make the best possible informed decision concerning your horses surgical treatment.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_tour][vc_tab title=&#8221;SOFT TISSUE SURGERIES&#8221;
