The admission protocol is still in force at the Equine Hospital: a pre-admission certificate (printable version) duly filled in by the referring veterinarian is required before any admission of elective cases, attesting to an up to date Herpesvirus and Influenza* vaccination, as well as the medical history of the previous 2 weeks of the stable and the patient.

For emergencies where the vaccination protocol is not up to date, the medical team will consider the possibility of an intranasal vaccination on a case by case basis.

* Primary vaccination and booster within the last 6 months, at least one week before the appointment.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We thank you for your usual cooperation,

The team of the Equine Hospital and the management of the CHUV

The Equine Hospital welcomes emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, we ask you to contact us before your arrival at the hospital, so we can be prepared to welcome your animal in the best manner possible.

An appointment is required for any visit, except for emergencies. Our specialists are available from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17 :00, on your veterinarian reference.

Parking is available beside door 47.  For livestock or horse trailer owners, you can obtain a free temporary parking permit at the large animal front desk.

Upon arriving at the hospital, present yourself at the reception fifteen minutes prior to your appointment, and before descending your horse of the trailer. Make sure you have all the necessary documentation in hand. A 500$ deposit is required for all hospitalised patients  (1000$ if the animal comes from another province or another country).

Please note that it is strictly forbidden to take pictures or videos in the hospital.

Because consultation time is precious, we ask you to call us as soon as possible if you need to cancel your appointment. Thus, we can offer these moments to another patient.

We sometimes receive referrals for medical imaging exams (MRI, CT scan) for large people. Unfortunately, we cannot offer this service, as our equipment is of the same type as that used in humas hospitals and therefore has the same limitations, as well as for legislative reasons. Thank you for your understanding.
