Dear clients,

The following is to inform you of changes to the scheduling of Equine lameness/Sports Medicine cases at the CUHV starting July 12, 2021 until August 31, 2021.

The veterinary staff will be reduced during this period as Dr. Rossier will be acting as Veterinary Delegate at the Tokyo Olympics as well as the associated COVID-19 related quarantine protocols. All other services including Emergency referrals will be maintained as usual during this period.

The Equine Lameness/Sports Medicine service will operate on a limited basis during this time with the following guidelines:

  • Veterinarians Dr. Louis Kamus and Dr. Pavlina Ruzickova will the acting  clinicians on the service
  • Consults will be available on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday
  • Generally, horses will be admitted on Tuesday and discharged on Thursday or Friday
  • Cases will have to be referred by a veterinarian and priority will be given for MRI and neck/back/pelvis evaluations
  • Cases presented for scintigraphy (nuclear medicine), pre –purchase exams or without a veterinary referral will be put on waiting list should appointments become available

Normal scheduling of cases will resume on August 31, 2021.

We are also very happy to announce that Dr. Pavlina Ruzickova will be rejoining our team of veterinarians on July 1, 2021 as equine surgery and lameness clinician.

Thank you for your understanding.

The Équine Hospital Team

The Equine Hospital welcomes emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, we ask you to contact us before your arrival at the hospital, so we can be prepared to welcome your animal in the best manner possible.

An appointment is required for any visit, except for emergencies. Our specialists are available from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17 :00, on your veterinarian reference.

Parking is available beside door 47.  For livestock or horse trailer owners, you can obtain a free temporary parking permit at the large animal front desk.

Upon arriving at the hospital, present yourself at the reception fifteen minutes prior to your appointment, and before descending your horse of the trailer. Make sure you have all the necessary documentation in hand. A 500$ deposit is required for all hospitalised patients  (1000$ if the animal comes from another province or another country).

Please note that it is strictly forbidden to take pictures or videos in the hospital.

Because consultation time is precious, we ask you to call us as soon as possible if you need to cancel your appointment. Thus, we can offer these moments to another patient.

For a customized trip, please click on the map below, and then on “directions” and enter your personal adress in the space provided for this purpose.
