THE CHUV’S SMALL ANIMAL HOSPITAL
The small animal hospital relies on the expertise of many specialists with a variety of fields of interest. The hospital treats nearly 12 000 cats and dogs on a yearly basis. Located in Saint-Hyacinthe, the hospital offers services that vary from anesthesiology to surgery and cardiology to dentistry, dermatology, medical imaging, behavior medicine, general practice, internal medicine, neurology and ophthalmology as well as emergency and critical care. The small animal hospital also has a zoological medicine service which offers care to exotic animals as well as birds of prey. Specialized procedures such as interventional radiology and stenting, laser surgery, nuclear medicine, computed tomography and magnetic resonance are available on site.
Many of our professors are renowned worldwide, particularly in internal medicine and cardiology.
Each year the small animal hospital welcomes the 4th and 5th year students from the veterinary medicine program. Each student goes through a series of rotations in different specialities. The hospitals graduate programs (internships and residencies) are also highly solicited.
